Today is World Health Day! People across the globe are coming together to be a part of a global movement for better health. Today, we want to hear from you. Why is Vitamin Angels’ mission important to you?  Your answer can be as short as a phrase or as long as an epic story. The VA staff will choose one lucky winner to receive a free VA T-shirt and wristband. Deadline for answers is Friday before midnight and the winner will be picked on Monday, April 12th. Look back to the blog on Monday to see the winning answer.

We’re excited to hear your input and see what brings us together in this movement for better childhood health and nutrition!

Other anti-poverty areas like

Other anti-poverty areas like education, agriculture, microfinance, etc are all important and meaningful, but none can be successful in the long-term without first ensuring that every developing child grows up to be healthy in body and mind. Micronutrients are critical to that. What Vitamin Angels does is so simple yet so essential.

What could be more important?

What could be more important than preventing the suffering of children and their families? And helping to provide the opportunity for children to live meaningful lives? It costs so little and accomplishes so much!

I've Always Wanted to Make a Difference

All of my life I knew I wanted to do something that mattered. I wanted to make a difference. I share that drive with my husband, Dr. Alan Greene. That is why he gave up private practice (as a pediatrician -- though he does still see patients one day a week at Stanford where he is a professor) and we devoted our lives to giving free medical information to people all over the world though DrGreene.com. A few years ago we were introduced to Vitamin Angels. Immediately we resonated with their mission, but it wasn't until we had the opportunity to go on the field with Vitamin Angels that I really understood how much difference we could make -- each and every person could make -- for so little. Vitamin Angels changes lives. I've seen it. It's true. It's amazing. Vitamin Angels is helping me do something I've always wanted to do -- make a difference.

A Fighting Chance...

Although the daily news reports often reminds us that we are in an economic crisis, we forget about those that live in countries plagued with a lifetime of poverty. Often our society will skip nutrition in the eyes of convenience and value. Many parents do not know the deficiencies that are caused by the excessive consumption of Kids Meals & $1 cheeseburgers. In this day and age, both childhood obesity and malnutrition are epidemic. Through education, I believe we can begin to make a difference. Opening the eyes of the parents is the first step, and we can hope that in response, families all over the world might make wiser budget decisions and provide their children with continued supplementation as well as better food choices. Vitamin Angels and it's supporters help provide no-cost vitality, health, and growth through their distribution of vitamin supplements all over the world. Whether the problem is finances, or lack of access to nutritional support. These lucky children are not only being given a gift, but also a fighting chance.

Better future for all of us

One of the kids that survives because of Vitamine Angel's nutrition program is going to force a breakthrough in HIV research. Dozens if not hundreds will become teachers and educate the next generation. One of them might marry one of my children if I ever get around to having any. Yes, I'd say that Vitamin Angels is pretty relevant to my life.

Children are the future

I believe in Vitamin Angels because every child should have the opportunity to live without the challenges of health issues. I am not a mother, but I am an aunt. Children are our future. I have had several friends have children and struggle to supply them with adequate nutrition. VA helps give children a more promising future. People need to stop focusing on petty issues and see how important children's nutrition as well as the nutrition of all truly is. VA shows the love of humanity to innocent children of the world.

Children are the future

I believe every child should have the same opportunity to live without the challenge of fighting for their health. Vitamin Angels helps make this possible by providing preventative measures in keeping children healthy. Children are our future. I am not a mother, but I am an aunt. I have seen several friends have children and struggle with providing adequate nutrition for them. I believe in VA because this world needs to change from focusing on petty issues and realize the importance of nutrition in children, as well as all. VA shows the world love through the little ones and helps them have a promising future.

why Vitamin Angel's mission means so much

We all know that the vitamins work, but the program is so much more, the education, the personal touch, involvement in the field... the mission is not preached, it is lived.. thank you from the children, the pregnant women and the unborn children... they are the ones that the message speaks loudest to...

Nicely said.

Beautiful response!

Vitamin Angels' Mission

People are important. Giving the children a good healthy start means everything!

Because

There are so many complex challenges in the world. Its hard to tell where to start sometimes, but not starting is not an option. Life is a good place to start, and the best place to start nurturing life is in the womb. Everyone deserves a healthy start.

It's as easy as: give a child

It's as easy as: give a child a chance to live, you give a child a chance to thrive, to learn, to grow up and change the dire situation they are in and the dire situation of others. What can be more simple than that?!

We have more than we need.

Most things I think I "need" are considered luxuries by the majority of people in other countries. I can do without some of these things and make a real difference in the lives of some of Earth's poor and hungry.
