Through a generous donation from Novus International, Vitamin Angels recently provided more than 345,000 zinc tablets to children in two Kenyan villages - Sauri, Western Kenya and Dertu, Northern Kenya. The tablets will be used to reduce the burden of diarrheal episodes in infants and children under five. Some 1.5 million children die each year diarrhea. This is the first time Dertu and Sauri have received zinc tablet donations. 

Vitamin Angels is working with field partner Millennium Villages, which offers a bold, innovative model of fighting poverty at the village level through community-led development projects. In 2011, the village health teams ran out of stock of zinc tablets and had to treat diarrhea cases with oral rehydration salt alone. We are happy to announce that this donation will cover the local needs for 2011!
