It took Vitamin Angels 15 years to be able to reach over 10 million children in a single year, which we achieved last year in 2009. Now, just 1 year later, we are going to double our reach to over 20 million children in 2010. We thought that was cause to celebrate!
At our 5th Annual Celebration of Angels guests were greeted with an endearing performance by the Boston City Singers, a children’s choir, accompanied by The Jazz Tellers from the Berklee School of Music. Benjamin Zander, conductor of the Boston Philharmonic and co-author of The Art of Possibility, gave a rousing presentation on the impact supplements have made for him personally, and encouraged those present to focus on the possibility of changing the lives of millions of children around the world. A new Vitamin Angels video featuring the smiling faces of the children being reached was unveiled which is now available for viewing at our Photos & Media tab.
President, Howard Schiffer pointed to the organizations dramatic growth, from our success of reaching 2 million children at our first Celebration of Angels five years ago, to reaching over 22 million children so far this year. He noted, “Vitamin Angels is now at an inflection point. This is the moment when things can shift dramatically. We now have the capacity, the logistics, the in-country partners, and the infrastructure in place to reach 30 million children in 2011!”
Several industry figure heads, including Pharmachem, Vitamin World, the Vitamin Shoppe, Natural Factors, UNFI, Rainbow Light, NOW Foods and others then pledged their ongoing support to Vitamin Angels’ mission.
We’d like to extend our sincerest appreciation to all the guests who attended and made contributions throughout the evening. The funds raised that night will enable us to reach over 800,000 more children next year with essential nutrients.
Thank you, 20 million times over!
Additional thanks goes out to the fabulous Boston PSAV team, the Harvard Club and Ben Gebo Photography.
