Michael Franti & Spearhead at the Lowell Summer Music Festival.

On July 17, 2009 the Lowell Summer Music Series hosted a high-spirited performance by Michael Franti & Spearhead in honor of Vitamin Angels. Before the show began, Vitamin Angels had the honor of a Meet and Greet with Franti, and are now looking at ways to collaborate for future awareness-raising events.

To kick off the show, Mayor Edward ‘Bud’ Caulfield addressed the citizens of Lowell with an emotional speech commending the important work Vitamin Angels is doing to reach children around the world with essential nutrients. He concluded his address by presenting Howard Schiffer, President and Founder of Vitamin Angels, with a key to the City of Lowell.

Once Michael Franti & Spearhead took stage everyone kicked up their heels as the energy level went from high to ‘rockin’. Between songs, Michael Franti reminded his fans to stop by the Vitamin Angels booth to lend their support in our effort to fight malnutrition.

The party ended right as a light rain came down to cool off the dancing crowd, but not before everyone-from the event staff to the band members - stopped by to toss a dollar or two into the donation jars.
