VITAMER LABS DONATES VITAMINS TO VITAMIN ANGELS’ CHILDREN’S NUTRITION PROGRAM TO HELP CHILDREN IN HONDURAS
IRVINE, Calif., (December 13, 2007) — Vitamer Labs, manufacturer of natural and organic premium private label dietary supplements, has donated 11 million children’s multivitamins to Vitamin Angels. Upon receipt of donated raw materials from DSM Nutritional Products, Domino Specialty Ingredients, Ingredients International, a division of Chicago Sweeteners and Mutual Flavors, Vitamer manufactured the children’s multivitamins and shipped them to Vitamin Angels for distribution to malnourished children in Honduras. Each year, Vitamer has pledged to manufacture 11 million children’s multivitamins.
Vitamer’s retail accounts can participate by pledging a percentage of sales of their store brand, private label supplements provided by Vitamer to go towards Vitamin Angels’ programs, in addition to other charitable programs. Established in 1994, Vitamin Angels is the only nonprofit organization in existence solely dedicated to providing vital nutrition to those in need internationally and domestically. Through its “Operation 20/20” campaign, they plan to eradicate childhood blindness caused by vitamin A deficiency (VAD) worldwide by the year 2020. Just two high-dose vitamin A supplements per child, per year, given to children when they are most vulnerable, can prevent blindness.
To date, Vitamin Angels has distributed over 350 million vitamins and other supplements in 82 countries around the world. In addition to distributing supplements, they provide health education and community programs that teach self-sufficiency. Over 30% of the world’s population suffers from micronutrient deficiencies. Both Vitamin Angels and Vitamer believe every person has a right to basic nutrition.
