PF Chang’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Arizona Marathon.
There was a buzz of excitement early Sunday morning as Vitamin Angels team members gathered together to take some pre-race photos. For many of our runners, this was their first marathon and what better introduction to the world of running than the style, sound and class of the PF Chang’s Rock n’ Roll Arizona Marathon!
The celebrations began the prior evening in Scottsdale at the house of Vitamin Angels board member, Jim Tonkin. Jim and his wife Cathy were kind enough to host our 11 team members and guests as we loaded up on carbs, reflected on the past months of training and discussed what we, as a team, had accomplished. All together our runners raised enough money to provide 12,000 children with vital nutrients in 2011!
Team leader Mark Potocnjak gave an overview of what to expect on race day, though nothing could have prepared us for the 31,000 marathon participants and their friends and family who filled the streets of Arizona on Sunday morning. Among our runners for this event were Linda, Jodi and Sandy from Virgo Publishing, Ben from Rainforest Nutritionals and Michael from Wellements.
