As our technical guru on micronutrients, from specifications to best practices, Ada ensures that Vitamin Angels product and projects are up to snuff from every angle. Her attention to detail is legendary, as is the mysterious fact that every day is her birthday. One of our longest-serving team members, Ada’s background in science research and nursing has made her well suited to tackle vitamin A and essential multi-micronutrients.
After earning a Masters in Latin American Studies and completing a graduate thesis on Community Development in Globalized El Salvador, Amy loves working in Santa Barbara for Vitamin Angels. Her interest in sustainable community development, love for speaking Spanish, and attention to detail, makes her task of managing Vitamin Angels’ network of grantees and implementation partners a delightful combination of her interests and talents.
While earning her BA at Hartwick College, Ann was introduced to the field of international health while studying abroad in Madagascar, Thailand and India. After seeing the public health challenges that these countries face, she was motivated to learn about sustainable solutions to these intricate issues. She attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and earned her MS in Nutrition Science in 2009. Ann is thrilled to join the Vitamin Angels team and help facilitate the distribution of micronutrients to grantees across the globe as the new Logistics Coordinator.
Brittany graduated from U.C. Santa Barbara with a BA in Cultural Anthropology. Her desire to learn and inherent passion for humanitarian service brought her to Vitamin Angels in 2007. Now Brittany works as a Promotional Account Manager building relationships and cause marketing campaigns with retailers and for-profit companies who are also committed to changing the lives of others worldwide. She is inspired by the mothers she has met in the field, their stories, strength and passion to improve their own health and the health of their children.
Although Clayton is a consultant to Vitamin Angels, he has become so indispensable that we insist on listing him among our staff. After a career first as an epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins University, and later as an entrepreneur, Clayton’s rigor and expertise are shaping Vitamin Angels into a technically savvy organization with much to offer micronutrient projects worldwide. Clayton has traveled, worked and lived all over the world.
Eva joins Vitamin Angels with a Master’s in International Environmental Policy emphasizing Food Security from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. While obtaining her M.A., Eva worked for the Agriculture and Land-Based Training Association (ALBA)—an NGO working on the central California coast. Immediately prior to Vitamin Angels, Eva spent two-years working for the United Nations World Food Programme’s (WFP’s) Food Assistance to Bhutanese Refugees in Nepal. An Oregon native, Eva’s passion for the environment and drive to work towards food and nutritional security are founded in organic and sustainable agriculture and the belief in universal access to basic rights.
Howard started off his career as a midwife, learning about the importance of prenatal nutrition for maternal and child health. After a successful career in the natural product’s industry, Howard founded Vitamin Angels in 1994. His goal is to give all children the chance for a full and healthy life on the day they are born.
Jeff Markel is the Senior Vice President and Director of Corporate Sponsorship for Vitamin Angels. As a former business owner and consultant, he brings a lifetime of skill and passion for the human development potential inherent in business conducted as a path of the heart. He deeply believes that passion, profits, and service to the world together constitute the highest potential of all business relationships. He dedicates himself not only to the mission of Vitamin Angels, but to the actualization of this healthy business model via Vitamin Angels.
Jessamyn’s globe-trotting free spirit has settled in the office of Vitamin Angels. With a BA in Latin American Studies from UCSB she studied for a time in Brazil, where Capoiera captured her heart, then upon graduating she was off to the isles of Mexico for another grand adventure. From our little office in Santa Barbara, Jessamyn daily brings about much good cheer and enthusiasm for helping all of the wonderful children she’s seen, and those she is still itching to meet.
Joyce is a Santa Barbara native who has been involved with a variety of local nonprofits over the years. She started her accounting career at an early age of 18 at a local pharmacy, Federal Drug. She took time off from accounting to raise a daughter who is now at UC Santa Cruz. Since then she has looked for an organization that would complement her accounting skills and her love of helping the community and the world. She has found this with Vitamin Angels.
As Communications Manager for Vitamin Angels, Kim spends her days making sure that you know that our logo can’t be made red (or brown or yellow) and the rest of her time in her role as new mommy, encouraging her little one to color outside the lines. She’s also on a mission to make sure we all say thank you as much, and as often, as we can.
Maureen combines two of her many passions into her position - working closely in a team environment for the greater good and a desire to support individuals in recognizing and reaching their very best potential. She has over 15 years of experience in Human Resource and Operational Management, enjoys creative structure, believes in happiness “on the job” and gratefully engages in the opportunity to make our world a healthier place.
With a BA in psychology and an MA in education, Nikki is passionate about helping others live happy and healthy lives. She has worked as an environmental educator, founded her own business in mind/body fitness, and developed an interest in social media by working as a technology blogger for an online magazine. Nikki is dedicated to the mission of Vitamin Angels and in finding creative ways to cultivate peace, love, and strength throughout the world.
Her love of international travel makes Phoebe the perfect candidate for her position as Vitamin Angels' Travel Manager. In addition, she provides assistance to our globe-trotting President, Howard Schiffer, and acts as the go-to person for individuals interested in donating product for use in our global programs. Phoebe received a BA in Marketing Communications from California Lutheran University, and is passionate about supporting the work of non-profits that create positive global change.

Sarah graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara and received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations. She has a passion to use her time and resources to help provide individuals in need with all the same blessings she has received in her own life. She loves the creative and engaging spirit of online marketing and is grateful to get to work with such passionate, creative individuals each day.
