Content Marketing Coordinator (CMC)

The Content Marketing Coordinator is responsible for managing content initiatives from supporting direction on content capture, to ingesting, maintaining, sharing content in/via Vitamin Angels’ (VA) internal systems and on the VA website, as well as helping to select content and recommend story lines across internal and external content-driven projects.


Role or Purpose of Position

The Content Marketing Coordinator (CMC) understands the power of great storytelling and what it takes to go from idea to finished product. S/he loves to innovate and collaborate to create compelling content that brings the Vitamin Angels (VA) cause to life. The CMC thrives in an environment where passion and heart drive the vision, but hard work and attention to detail create the reality. S/he possesses the ability to adapt & react to external variables and multi-task while maintaining a positive, can-do attitude. The CMC genuinely enjoys managing assets and takes great pride in his/her exceptional accuracy and organization. S/He also plays a critical role in upholding the values of the organization by remaining sensitive to the complexities of nonprofit communication and protecting beneficiary rights.

The CMC is a member of the Marketing Division reporting to the Associate Director of Brand Marketing.

The major duties and responsibilities of the Content Marketing Coordinator include:

End-to-End Content Coordination: 

  • Content Strategy – Working in collaboration with the Associate Director of Brand Marketing, identify the stories we want to tell and how best to do so to meet divisional & organizational objectives. 
  • Pre-production – Define deliverables, timelines and expectations for those tasked with capturing content by collaborating with the end-users on how, when, and where content will be used. Develop overall plan, timelines, shot lists, and budgets (as needed).
  • Content Capture Coordination – Facilitate the successful collection of content by VA staff and/or contractors such as photographers and videographers. As needed, this may include vetting, engaging, and onboarding new creatives. Periodically joins trips to facilitate and oversee content capture.
  • Post-Production – Manage the ingestion of written notes, photos and photo releases into VA asset management systems and organization, labeling and matching of assets to ensure all are in compliance with our standards and segmented for subsequent permissible use. Responsible for managing storage of physical and digital files.
  • Curation & Creation – Collaborate with the Associate Dir of Brand Marketing to curate assets into ready-to-use content. Partner with Marketing team and external contractors, to translate captured content into desired outputs. In some cases, the CMC will be responsible for writing, editing and/or proofreading stories/articles.
  • Distribution – Partner with members of the Marketing team to deliver approved or final content to end-users for application as defined in pre-production. Additionally, develop a working knowledge of VA’s content library and content constraints/limitations to serve as a resource for the VA team to identify and select the content that best fits their purpose and needs. Identify opportunities to further leverage content based on a growing understanding of content library and historical performance. Drive internal organizational understanding of assets available.
  • Analysis – Collaborates with VA teams to collect performance insights (qualitative and quantitative) and applies learnings to subsequent projects.

 

Implement & Uphold Best Practices

  • Ensures content capture process and outputs follow international best practices and VA standards for protecting beneficiaries’ rights.
  • Ensures VA brand and program activities are accurately portrayed. Supports implementation of use and crediting policies.
  • Manages the revisions to policies and roll out as necessary.

 
Level of Decision-Making

Within the bounds of VA’s mission, values and policies, and sound professional practices, the CMC is free to manage his/her activities in whatever way will best serve VA clients, partners and employees – while being coached/mentored by an experienced marketing management team member. Specific authorities associated with this position and their implementation procedures will be determined in conjunction with the Associate Director of Brand Marketing. 

Organizational Relationships

 VA operates under a collaborative, matrix management model. The Content Marketing Coordinator is supervised by the Associate Director of Brand Marketing or his/her designee with respect to overall assignments and performance and interacts daily with all members of the VA team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Required and Desired)
Required:

  • BA/BS degree in Journalism, Communications, International Studies or related field from an accredited university
  • 2+ years related work experience
  • Strong understanding of storytelling and brand marketing; content production and management a plus
  • Experience working with, and preferably managing, third party contractors.
  • Experience building and managing budgets
  • Proficiency with Office and Adobe software
  • Superior communication and inter-personal skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Self-starter who excels at multitasking, managing competing deadlines and maintains a great attitude when working under pressure
  •  

Highly desirable:

  • Superior writing and/or editing skills.
  • Training, interest, and/or keen eye for photography
  • Proficiency in Lightroom, Photoshop, and/or digital asset management systems, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Experience working with creative staff, including but not limited to, marketing agencies, photographers, and videographers.
  • Understanding and awareness of the need for cultural & religious sensitivities and related nuances to protect the integrity and safety of at-risk and underserved populations.
  • Travel experience in developing countries
  • Bi- or multi-lingual  

CHALLENGES OF THE POSITION

The challenge to individuals in the Content Marketing Coordinator position is to balance the functional requirements of content planning, collection, ingestion and delivery with the highest degree of organization and attention to detail while maintaining the ability to conceptualize, support capture, and create stories that inspire and propel the VA brand.

 

Position: Full Time

COMPENSATION

$50-$55 Annually - Commensurate with experience.
